It’s time to say goodbye to the days of waiting for a Macy’s employee to bring you a shoe in your size. The department store is gearing up to completely get rid of the traditional customer service approach, and implement a self-service plan for customers. The fresh approach will be similar to what we see in Nordstrom Rack, with multiple shoe sizes already on the sales floor.
We will definitely miss having employees help us unlace shoes and wiggle them on to our feet. But earlier this year, Macy’s tested the new strategy in a few stores, and the change proved to pay off with an increase in earnings. It seems that the uninterrupted shopping experience is really what customers are looking for right now. No need for small talk. Just get in, get what you need, and get out. Sounds pretty convenient.
